Decluttering allows you to start fresh in your new space, bringing only the items that truly matter to you. Plus, it helps to keep your new home organized from the very beginning.

Get Packing Supplies Ahead of Time

One of the most important moving tips is to be prepared! Don’t wait until the last minute to pick up moving supplies. Label Now, Rejoice Later

Label boxes with permanent markers or write on the packing tape to identify what’s in each box and where everything belongs. You can also color-code boxes with masking tape or get creative with sticky notes. However you do it, taking time to label things now makes all the difference when you’re unpacking all your belongings later! If you still have the original box for your TV, coffee maker, or other specific items, using these boxes can make the labeling process a bit easier. Your future self will thank you!

Don’t Overload Moving Boxes

Fill Gaps With Packing Paper or Bubble Wrap

Loose items in boxes can shift during transportation, leading to potential damage. After placing your belongings in the box, use packing paper to fill any empty spaces between items. For extra protection, pack glasses and other fragile items individually in packing paper or bubble wrap before placing them in moving boxes.

Use High-Quality Packing Tape

When it comes to the most important moving supplies, tape reigns supreme! Using high-quality packing tape is crucial to keeping your boxes secure during any local or long-distance move. Cheaply made or weak tape may peel off, causing boxes to open or collapse under the weight of your items. Invest in strong, durable packing tape that will provide a firm seal on all your boxes, ensuring they stay closed and intact during the moving process. Tape along all seams and reinforce the bottom of each box for added stability.
